As Hurricane Gustav, Tropical Storm Hanna, Hurricane Ike and Hurricane Kyle approached and made landfall with the United States, ARRL Division and Section leaders in the affected areas, with support from ARRL Headquarters staff, coordinated the Amateur Radio response to assist with communications and support served agencies where needed.

The ARRL set up e-mail addresses for use during hurricanes and tropical storms for hams to pose questions or relay non-emergent information to ARRL Headquarters staff relating to hurricane or named tropical storm events.

To support operations throughout Hurricane Gustav, ARRL sent Ham Aid kits to Louisiana. These kits were also used during Hurricane Ike.

W1AW, the Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station, in coordination with ARRL West Gulf Division Vice Director David Woolweaver, K5RAV, used EchoLink to monitor the Texas Emergency Net during Hurricane Ike.

ARRL Headquarters staff are busy preparing for the third annual ARRL On-Line Auction next month.

All issues of QST from December 1915 through December 2004 were made available in an electronic format to ARRL members.

The November issue of QST was released to the printer.

Brennan Price, N4QX, returned to the ARRL Headquarters staff as the ARRL Technical Relations Manager.

ARRL Membership Manager Katie Breen, W1KRB, announced that she will leave the ARRL Headquarters staff. Her last day in Newington is October 3.

Certificates for the 2007 Sweepstakes were mailed to recipients.

All 2008 Field Day logs have been posted online.

The Worked All States Award and the 5 Band Worked All States Award certificates got a new look.

The ARRL/TAPR Digital Communications Conference (DCC) was September 26-28. QEX Editor Larry Wolfgang, WR1B, represented the ARRL at the event.

The ARRL Development Office announced that for the sixth year in a row, the League is participating in the Combined Federal Campaign.

The ARRL is preparing for the arrival of the USTTI students who will be taking the ARRL Amateur Radio Administration Course for Regulators (ARAC).

These online course sessions begin October 3: Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Level 1 (EC-001); Radio Frequency Interference (EC-006); Antenna Design and Construction (EC-009); Technician License Course (EC-010); Analog Electronics (EC-012), and Digital Electronics (EC-013).

On the Air: The September VHF QSO Party was September 13-15. The ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest and the ARRL International EME Competition was September 21-22. Next up: ARRL International EME Competition is October 18-19.
