I would like to install an HF "bumper mount" antenna on a 2009 Corvette. I will appreciate how others have made similar installations. Comments on providing an effective RF ground will also be appreciated. Tnx. |

Tnx, Gary. Haven't found anything on the site, yet, but there is quite a bit more to review there. 73, Jim |

K8JE: No offense meant but.... are you insane? The last time I heard something like this was when a guy wanted me to mount a CB antenna in the center of the roof of his brand new Mercedes! Ugh! LOL. BTW, a friend of his gave him the hole punch, drill bits, etc. so he could do it himself. He drilled the 1/4 pilot hole and then punched out the hole for the antenna. The antenna dropped through the hole into the car! He just moved down on the roof 6" and drilled another hole. I watched him do this and had the "snakes" for two days! |

If remember right GM ran the ground right to the frame on C3 guys that had the CB radio installed from the factory. Not many C3 Vettes came with CB radios. On the AM/FM recieve antenna, I'm 90% positive there was a ground strap for that antenna that goes to the frame also. Gd Luck on your project I would like to see some pics when you get down, 73s. |

I don't have much time for HF operating in my C6, but several here in the local club have put 11M hamsticks on bumber mounts. I'll have to ask how they did it. |
