I just hooked up my MFJ 6 m SSB rig to one of my 160m loops being fed with 300 ohm. I added a 4:1 TV balun to a piece of 50 ohm coax and soldered all the connections. It works fine at 10 watts output from the MFJ rig. I tested these TV type baluns up to 20watts and no further. So, my 6 m cloudburner is 540 ft and simple removal by unscrewing the coax and reconnecting to my 160 m rig and tuner w/ a 4:1 internal balun is simple. I'd like to here about other members antenna experiments. The VSWR is 1.4:1 according to the MFJ SWR/Watt meter. Scale it down to your usable size, place the loop vertical and put it on a non-conductive mast and rotate it with the Armstrong technique. 73 n0mzr |
