I am looking for a diagram of where it would be safe to drill the firewall in a Hyundai Tucson to power a mobile rig. Hyundai will not provide anything but simply reply do not do it. They continue to say it invalidates their warranty. Any help will be appreciated. |

First of all, installing amateur radio equipment in any vehicle doesn't violate any warranty, no matter what you're being told. It does require following the manufacturer's installation guides, and Hyundai does have one. I personally haven't looked at a Tucson, but I suspect it is no different that their other models. Their Santa Fe model does have an unused teat on the main wiring harness, albeit difficult to get to. If you end up having to drill a hole, I'd keep it low, and to the left, or about where your left foot would rest. Obviously, a proper grommet is requires, as is proper sealing. |
