- Description:
-
The Amador County Amateur Radio Club maintins two active repeaters with a wide coverage of the foothills and into the Sacramento valley. It offers classes for new hams and puts on other activities to promote the hobby. It has a strong focus on community activity support, particularly bicycle ride events at which time communication support is provided for events up to 1,500 participants. The club has also responded to local disasters to provide emergency communication with a strong linkage with the Red Cross. A recent linkage has been formed with a local 4-wheel rock crawling club who have found ham radio as an important emergency communciation link. Meetings are held monthly with guest speakers and good fellowship.
